This article contains information on the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) Application form and Requirements for admission into the following programmes for the 2021/2022 academic year.

The National Council for Higher Education is therefore inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for selection into undergraduate programmes for the 2021/2022 academic year offered by the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS), Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mzuzu University (MZUNI) and the University of Malawi (UNIMA).
NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, NCHE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
General Admission Requirements
The eligible applicants are as follows:
- Candidates who completed the MSCE, IGCSE or O Level equivalent in the past three years (2019, 2020 and 2021);
- Candidates with an Advanced Subsidiary (AS) certificate or a National Senior Certificate (NSC) obtained in the past three years (2019, 2020 and 2021);
- Candidates who completed the Advanced (A) Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A Level equivalent in the past three years (2019, 2020 and 2021).
NOTE: All those currently enrolled in public universities and those who were withdrawn on academic grounds are NOT eligible to apply.
Programme Information and Entry Requirements
This section contains guidelines as you contemplate choosing the six (6) programmes you would like to pursue. The actual indication of your six (6) programme choices should be made in section D of the application form.
Minimum entry requirements
- You must be a holder of MSCE, IGSCE or any other internationally recognised qualification comparable to ‘O’ level certificates with at least six credit passes (a minimum of grade ‘6’ at MSCE or ‘C’ at IGCSE) including English Language obtained in 2019, 2020 or The following is the interpretation of IGCSE and O-Level results for admission purposes: A*(90-100) =1; A(80-89)=2; B(70-79)=3; C(60-69)=5; D(55-59) and E(49-54)=7; F(40-48) and G(34-39)=8; O(0-33)=9
- Candidates who failed to satisfy the admission into public universities in 2019 or 2020 but successfully improved their grades after re-sitting a maximum of four subjects in 2020 or 2021 may use their supplementary statements for purposes of accumulating credits.
- Candidates cannot combine grades from two or three independent certificates, i.e. candidates who reattempted MSCE in 2021 and obtained a full certificate cannot combine grades from the 2019 or 2020 and obtain a full certificate for purposes of accumulating credits.

- Candidates with A-Level qualifications must have a minimum of three principal passes with an aggregate of at least 9 points obtained in 2019, 2020 or 2021. For purposes of selection, A-Level grades are interpreted as follows: E=1; D=2; C=3; B=4; A=5; A*=6 (Please note the difference in the interpretation of A-Level grades from those for IGCSE or O-Level grades). - must have attained the appropriate grades for the subjects relevant to the programme(s) they are applying for either at O-Level or Advanced Subsidiary (AS)
- Candidates with an International Baccalaureate (IB) must have a minimum of 30 points obtained in the current year or the last two
- Candidates with an Advanced Subsidiary (AS) certificate must have at least grade ‘C’ in four AS-Level subjects plus IGCSE obtained in the 2019, 2020 or
- Candidates with a National Senior Certificate (NSC) must have a minimum score of 60% (Achievement Level 5) in four designated subjects obtained in 2019, 2020 or
- In addition to the minimum entry requirements, candidates must also meet the individual programme requirements as specified for each
- Forged documents: Please note that it is a criminal offence to use false information or someone else’s details or fake supporting documents as part of your application. If you are caught doing so, criminal charges could be leveled against you and any other party.

Application Fee
- Applicants Applying Online are required to pay a non-refundable fee of K8,500.00 for resident Malawians and U$30.00 for international applicants.
- Applicants using a Paper Application Form are required to pay a non-refundable fee of K10, 000.00 for resident Malawians and U$30.00 for international applicants.
SUBMISSION DATES FOR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS AND ACADEMIC RECORDS
The NCHE University reserves the right to cancel any application if all the necessary certified paper copies or original transcripts are
not submitted on time.
NCHE APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applications opened from Monday 14th March, 2022 and is ending on Friday 22nd April, 2022.
I would like to inquire about the physical address I sent my application form through speed door to door using the physical address instead of using the other address so I was wondering if my application form shall reach it’s destination?

I have an HRM diploma level 6 from Damelin south Africa.
I have MSCE 3 credits from my secondary school obtained 2005 . But when I apply for furthering my studies in Human Resources Management? Universities they say I have to re start.
To to me it’s like an insult after already long journey has been done.
