UNICAF University Malawi Admission Requirements 2022/2023

The UNICAF University, Malawi (UNICAF) 2022/2023 admission requirements for all the courses at the Postgraduate, undergraduate, certificate & diploma level is updated every year.

For admission into programs of study at the UNICAF University, Malawi (UNICAF) for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for successful admission.

UNICAF UNIVERSITY, MALAWI (UNICAF) ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

General Admission Requirements

The eligible applicants are as follows:

Candidates who completed the MSCE, IGCSE or O Level equivalent in the past three years (2019, 2020 and 2021);
Candidates with an Advanced Subsidiary (AS) certificate or a National Senior Certificate (NSC) obtained in the past three years (2019, 2020 and 2021);
Candidates who completed the Advanced (A) Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or A Level equivalent in the past three years (2019, 2020 and 2021).

NOTE: All those currently enrolled in public universities and those who were withdrawn on academic grounds are NOT eligible to apply.

Programme Information and Entry Requirements

Bachelor Degrees

The general admission requirements for entry to Unicaf University Malawi bachelor degree programmes are as outlined below. Students are advised to contact the Office of Admissions to find out more about the range of equivalent international academic qualifications accepted.

Regular admission to a Bachelor degree programme requires the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with 6 passes, grades 1-4.
Applicants with 6 passes in the Malawi School Certificate of Education, grades 1-6, with at least 2 years postgraduate, relevant experience may be considered for entry.
Applicants with a Diploma or Advanced Diploma may be considered for entry.
Applicants with a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant area may be considered for credit transfer.
English proficiency; grade 6 or better on the Malawi School Certificate of Education or equivalent
Current CV
Copy of valid passport or national ID

In addition to a strong academic record, extra-curricular activities, leadership skills and other relevant background information may be taken into account.

Master’s Degrees

The general admission requirements for entry to Unicaf University Malawi Master degree programmes are as outlined below. Students are advised to contact the Office of Admissions to find out more about the range of equivalent international academic qualifications accepted.

Admission to a Master’s degree programme requires an accredited Bachelor degree or international equivalent. Related professional qualifications at the appropriate level will also be considered for entry.
Students with an accredited Master’s degree will also be considered for entry.
Recognized proof of English proficiency if the Bachelor degree was not taught in the English language
A Personal Statement or Statement of Purpose (minimum 500 words)
Current CV
One official letter of recommendation (either academic or professional)
Copy of valid passport or national ID

Doctorate Admission

Applications for doctorate study are accepted all year round. Students may submit their application by using the Unicaf University online application form and paying the application fee.
The entry requirements for admission to a Doctorate degree programme include:

An accredited Master’s degree in a relevant subject area. Students may be considered for doctorate study if their degree is in an unrelated field provided, they have relevant professional experience and can prove their ability to work at doctorate level. A wide range of international qualifications may also be considered. Students are advised to contact the Office of Admissions to find out more about the range of international academic qualifications accepted.
Official Master’s degree transcripts
Recognized proof of English proficiency if previous studies were not taught in the English language. Otherwise, an IELTS score 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.5 in the writing component and no individual component lower than 6.0) is required; or an English Placement Test result with a 6.5 equivalence (provided no score in each individual component is less than 6.0).
Personal Statement of Statement of Purpose (minimum 500 words)

Two official letters of recommendation (one of which must be academic)
Research proposal or project outline
Evidence of ability to undertake independent research
